Our clients, located in Bexley, are seeking to recruit an experienced Legal Assistant.
Hours: 9.00 am – 5.00 pm –Monday – Friday
Permanent – Office Based.
Responsibilities:
- Issue quotes (using the firm database).
- Assist with file opening and logging of new clients.
- Carry out conflict checks as well as identification and verification checks (with support where required).
- Make appointments and meet with clients to take instructions.
- Assist with client enquiries on the phone and in person, efficiently, politely and promptly.
- Answer telephone calls from agents and other stakeholders.
- Produce attendance notes of telephone calls and visits.
- Ensure any risks or issues are raised with the fee earner in a timely manner.
- Maintain client files:
- Draft letters, documents, applications and bundles.
- Complete registration at the Land Registry within the priority period.
- Effectively utilise case management systems.
- Complete relevant Accounts forms in respect of money coming in and going out and ensure, where appropriate, forms are filed on the client files, accurately and fully.
- Process payments.
- Keep up to date with typing from dictations.
- Support Fee Earners by undertaking any other ad hoc duties as required from time to time.
- Comply with all aspects of firmwide policies and procedures.
- Promptly update client notes during the course of the matter.
- Scan and save documents.
- Archive and destruct documents in line with record keeping procedures.
Skills and experience:
- Previous experience working as a legal assistant (preferably within commercial conveyancing)
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to manage workload effectively
- Excellent communication skills
- Positive ‘can-do’ attitude
- Pro-active approach
