Our client, a 50 year-established family run Building Refurbishment Contractor, is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join their HO in Hither Green, London, SE13, to manage and process the procurement of construction-based materials, hired in plant and services for the company.

EXPERIENCE IN CONSTRUCTION & REFURBISHMENT IS ESSENTIAL

Hours:  8.00 am – 5.00 pm – Monday – Friday

Responsible for:

• Managing the Buying Department including a buyer and part time yard assistant.
• Sourcing and ordering materials, hired in plant and site services.
• Logistical planning of deliveries and services to accommodate the site management teams.
• Identifying and negotiating cost reduction opportunities with the supply chain.
• Source new suppliers and maintain their existing suppliers and sub-contractors’ data base.
• Working closely with other buyer(s) to manage and process the day-to-day order process.
• Working with the Estimating Department arranging materials, site services and sub-contractors’ costs for tenders.
• Arranging reports and information from suppliers to assist in carbon and waste reporting.

Criteria: 

• Experience in procurement of site-based materials, plants and services
• Possess a strong background in construction with a good knowledge of refurbishment-based materials and trades
• Experience with logistical planning and just in time deliveries
• Organised, motivated, reliable, ability to self-manage, lead a team and be a team player
• Have a keen commercial business sense
• Has ideally achieved or is working toward CIPS Level 4 or equivalent qualification/experience
• Possess strong IT skills – Excel & Business Management Software

£ 45,000.00 – £55,000.00 (Negotiable) plus Bonus
